Not to live in the past...

but let's catch up a little bit.

We left off in March -- Kaden turned 1. Hooray! Little did we know that we had few months left of babyness. We soon discovered a little toddler on our hands. We had a couple of crazy scares with Kaden. We spent some time and money on hospital stays and visits this past summer.

First Kaden got a bacterial infection in his blood-stream and thanks to some great docters -- ended up recovering quite nicely. We were able to also start him on Asthma medication to help the little guy feel better regularly.
This pic was in Primary Children's sitting in the rocking chair with Daddy watching the current favorite -- Little People - Things That Go.
If you've ever seen it... you feel my pain. WE probably watched that 100 times becuase Kaden was quarantined to his room due to the nature of his infection and he also had RSV (in JUNE).

We so lovingly called that thing on his arm -- the club.

He had to have it only because he kept pulling his IV out every single chance he got.

Around this same time we started building a house in Heber City.

Rented out our Townehome to (seriously) the perfect renter. At least it seems that way considering all of the horror stories we have heard about becoming landlords.

WE moved in with my parents in Orem, August 1st.

Oh... the joys of being home again.

While we were living with my parents and working on the Heber Hacienda (and only a few weeks out of the hospital I might add) - Ryan's Grandpa passed away quite suddenly and the same day Kaden was running and fell and hit his head on the corner of some cement.

15 stitches and two (that is correct, two) ER visits later we were at the end of a really crummy day.

We had some trips planned this Summer to Lake Powell and New York which were both put on indefinite hold because of all of these unforeseen events. I was attending school "full-time" in the summer.
Ryan was working at the Bank - got promoted to "Assistant Vice President of Business Banking". (I just like to tease him because that is his official title) or "Business Manager" or as we say Business Banker. Meanwhile he put in beautiful Tile, Electrical, Lighting, Wood Floors, Paint and a killer Master closet into the new house. Needless to say we had a craAazy summer.

In September we got another giant surprise --

This little bean is on it's way-- gender still to be determined. May 16th is my "official" due date. I took a pregnancy test (almost as a fluke) which was positive, and this babe was a BIG surprise. Although Ryan claims "he thought I might be pregnant".
I continued to be very ill throughout my first trimester. Throwing up multiple times daily, which was not the case with Kaden. Every time I go to the doctor they tell me I'm 2 weeks less than I thought I was. I got some great medications the helped with the nausea and I'm now at 17.5 weeks (cross your fingers that doesn't change for lesser).
We have loved having it be just little Kader Baby around here, and once we wrapped our heads around the idea that our plans would be changing -- we are now very excited to welcome Baby #2 into our hearts and house. I can say that honestly, but also must acknowledge how frightened and anxious we are about how to handle two kids possibly both as crazy as Kaden. :) Life is an adventure I guess.

In October we moved back up to Heber into our completed House -- PICTURES to come soon -- and have been trying to settle in, unpack and make it home.

Hello, you sad lonely blog you.

I really do enjoy you, I miss you. I sit down to update you, only to never hit "publish" on a half finished blog post.

As far as the internet knows... Kaden is still only 1. And the only thing that has happened this year is him turning said number.

In some ways I'm okay with that.

I know I've been running around on Facebook, Pinterest, and even blogger checking out other blogs faithfully.

I'm sorry.

I want to re-kindle our love. What do you say?

I'm committed to making this work -- promise promise.

Kaden is our little hurricane!

He loves to eat grapes, blueberries, and oranges.

He can say - Mama, Dada, Baba, Uh-oh, All-done (sounds like aaaadunn), Izzy (pronounced zeezee), and NO!NO!NO!.

He also loves to make car noises.

He walks quickly, and climbs the stairs up and down.

He has 4 teeth, and a big happy smile.

We love him so much and he makes our lives so much better,

and certainly more exciting and lively!

we had a small family / friends get together at my parents.

Uncle Tyson was wrestling in the state tournament that night at UVU,

and ended up winning and going on to take state which was VERY exciting for all of the Kohler clan!

{2010}

2010 was a big year for us, we had a lot of firsts...

just to name a few -

we started as 2 and ended as 3.

we prepared for a baby.

we delivered a baby.

Ryan learned how to change a diaper.

I began life as a stay-at-home momma.

I turned 23 and for the first time -- really felt 23 (maybe even older than that).

We took a fabulous trip to San Diego with the Welling family (not a first, but our first trip with Kaders).

Kaden swam and took his first trip to Disneyland.

Kaden crawled at 6 months - around August.

we baby-proofed.

Kaden took a trip to the Zoo, and some football games.

Ryan (and I) got to Hawaii for the first time over Thanksgiving with the Kohler Fam.

We started in a brand new ward in new(and scary) callings.

I returned to school in the fall.

Ryan turned 28 and so began the 'nearing 30' jokes.

Kaden took his first steps before Christmas. (10 months)

we toddler proofed.

Ryan was the number one banker in Utah!

We sent out Christmas Cards.

Now prepare yourself for A LOT of pictures -

we grew up, we grew in numbers, our love grew, our faith grew,

our testimonies grew, our friendships grew.

yea... 2010 was a good one. My best so far.

Here's to an even more fabulous 2011 --

that is already 1/4 over (I know.. okay?)

Ryan, Kaden and I went to The Riverwoods Mall one night last week with

Angie, Greg and Abbie. Kaden was lucky enough to meet this guy....

I've got to hand it to Kaden... he knows when to turn on the charm...

Okay--

I am most definitely not sorry about the length of time between posts....

really....... I am not sorry..... okay, maybe a little.

darnit.

Here's what you've missed. (it's alot, prepare yourself)

Kaden is growing soo fast. He loves pretty much everything about fall:

watching dad play flag football

munching on leaves, crawling on the grass

and goint to Aunt Et's cabin

We took a trip to the zoo with friends... which was a blast.

Kaden really loved looking at the animals, though I think he relates them all to our pup Izzy.

Our little monkey is actually about the right size to be a monkey... go figure.

Also for Halloween he was Harry Potter!

(they both had glasses, but they didn't last long)

He loves to swing at the park, too bad he started to enjoy this right as the cold set in.

Not to worry, we'll get some swinging in on warmer days.

He liked going down the slide with Ryan too.

And lastly we left this little guy in care of Shelly (BFFFF) and

my sister Katie while Ryan & I took a little trip to Hawaii.

Needless to say, we missed our little guy.

Ryan & I have been extremely busy with Kaden, Church, Work and School.

We got put into a new ward in which we both received new callings in the Relief Soceity and Elders Quoram. We love our new ward so much, but miss alot of our old ward buddies.

Ryan is doing amazing at work. He is one of the top Bankers in the nation and gets to go to Orlando this February for a sales conference. I am finished with my first semester back at school since having Kaden, and a busy semester at that.

We are excited that Christmas is just around the corner even though, in honesty, I can't believe it's here already.

I'll be blogging again soon, at least until the beginning of Jan. when school starts.

So check back... hopefully it won't be another apology.

3 Years ago today--

I started on the grandest adventure of my life with my best friend Ryan.

Though our adventures have taken us up and down (as adventures sometimes do),

I wouldn't have it any other way,

or want to go through them with anyone else.

I wasn't going to have someone come and take pics of Kaden until...

he turned 2 weeks old and I realized (in horror) that he was growing at an incredible rate.

I called my friend Jess to see if she'd mind taking some pics of him.

She did such an incredible job and it was so nice to have someone who knew us take these pictures!

They turned out so wonderful and I'm beginning to think that if we keep photoing Kaden so darn much he might turn out to be some kind of diva...but we'll keep up on the pictures regardless.

On Feb. 10th, I sat at work wondering if I had lost complete bladder control. After all I was 8 months pregnant, and it's been known to happen. After realizing that it could not possibly be my bladder, Ryan rushed from Park City while I packed our bags for the hospital.

About 24 hours later little Kaden Ryan was born.

The last 3 weeks and 1 day have been an adventure to say the least... It's strange to think that today was my due date because it seems like a lifetime ago that I was pregnant.

He came into this world on his own terms, and he has continued to show us

that he's in charge ever since.

So far we've found he likes to eat, sleep, be snuggled, and to be warm.

I'm so glad we have gotten to spend this time with him!

All those things I've always heard new moms say are all true... but you can't really understand until after a new baby has arrived--

Labor was truly that...labor, I really am exhausted, I really haven't gotten much sleep, it really is hard work, I really am paranoid about who is holding and watching him, I really have been pooped and peed and spit up on countless times, I really do worry about germs much more, I really do have a million pictures of him sleeping, I really do check on him 25 times a night,

I really love Ryan even more because of him, I really could look at Kaden forever,

I really do think he's the cutest baby in the world, and

we really do love him more than anything!

Nesting

It's a little early, but I'm definitely nesting!
Sometimes I feel like I'm just rushing around, organizing and disinfecting all day long!
I made my own baby bedding, and (quite surprisingly) it turned out wonderful!
Ryan was able to paint the nursery and get the furniture all moved in, I absolutely love it!
In fact I've sat in my glider and looked out the window everyday since.
More pictures of the nursery to come... I have some more projects in mind.
For now I'll just keep up the scrubbing, cleaning, and preparing until our little guy gets here!

It's a BOY!

Ryan & I were thrilled to find out on Friday that we are expecting a little boy! I'm still trying to peel Ryan off of the ceiling, he was so excited at the doctors office that he was high fiving and skipping around like a little school boy. March 5, 2010 is his due date, and we cannot wait for him to be here with us.

It's been a couple of months since we've updated our blog! I'm going to try really hard to be a little better at this. But just to cover what's happened...
I got through finals alive, and was able to celebrate a 2 year anniversary and my birthday the same week. It was fun a fun and crazy week. I started working full time over the summer, and immediately we began renovating our house. We painted, put in wood floors, redecorated, and refinished our fireplace and dining table and chairs. Pictures coming SOON! It was a lot of fun and a lot of work. Ryan got a new job selling life insurance for AIL. It's still not his favorite thing to do, but we're very blessed for him to even have a job in this economy. Overall we're doing great, we're very happy and feeling very blessed.

It's been a CRAZY couple of months as usual! Filled with School, Work, Church Duties & a little Vacationing on the side. Sadly, we lost MOST of our vacation photos in a freak memory card accident. :( I have been so upset I've hardly taken a picture since. Don't judge us by these pictures...I promise we took good ones. In March we took a cruise to the Carribean, and it was fabulous. These pictures are on the ship from formal night with Miguel our server, at the Chicago Airport with Honest Abe, and in San Juan the day we flew out. Ryan got called to be an Assistant Scout Master to the 11 year olds. Which we are both thrilled about! Other than that we are just living the dream, day to day!

I'm running on the thought of better late than never lately!

Here are some pictures from Finals Week December 2008. It was a busy crazy week. Ryan helped me work on a chair made of nothing but cardboard, glue and some strategically placed screws. (shhh!) For the Critique you have to sit in it; which meant a couple of things 1) A man most definitely created this assignment 2)I was not going to make a flimsy chair.

Ryan was so sweet to help me, especially since I'm difficult to be around when I am having an artistic vision. After 20 or so hours spent on the chair I had to just take a deep breath and say "oh well". I would do many things differently next time I decide to build a cardboard chair... if that ever happens.

Last day of finals I took some time out of a stress-fest to have a pedicure with Shelly-bean. We were absolutely crazy because it was snowing like a maniac. And so we ended up running around with freezing little toes.

Ryan's family picked me up from school and we went straight to Las Vegas. I would honestly never choose to do that ever ever ever again. By the end of the day I was ready to kill over. ahhhh....memories.

Viva Las Vegas...

Las Vegas! What a classy place... This was my first trip to Vegas since I was about 12 years old. We went with Ryan's parents to watch BYU play in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Our first day we drove past the Sexxpresso Coffee Shop and I HAD to take a picture because it looked like such an up-scale establishment. On Friday night we went to Fremont Street, and there were millions of Santa's standing around waiting for something to happen. Naturally I picked my two favorite and asked them for a picture. They were very drunk and also very nice.

After riding the New York New York Rollercoaster TWICE, we visited the M&M factory and the Coke factory. I really enjoyed both, but my favorite part was getting my picture with the coke bear. Shortly after that picture was taken, he gave me a big kiss. If you didn't know-- I love diet coke more than I should, which enhanced the entire experience for me. Ryan on the other hand didn't find it quite as exciting.

We went and walked through the gardens at the Belagio one night, how AMAZING! There were life-size reindeer made completely of almonds. Giant mirrors that made up gigantic gifts, and abominable sized snowmen made from Candy and Flowers alone. I was very impressed, since I just took 3D design, and found it extremely difficult to do even small projects.

We went to watch BYU play which was very disappointing. I don't really care for them anyhow, but even I was bummed at what a poor showing they had; mainly because it makes Ryan grumpy when they loose.

Last but not least we stopped in Mesquite on our way home, to visit Grandma Dorothy and Grandpa Harvey. It was really fun to see them, and catch up.

Viva Las Vegas.
